We are saddened to confirm that our brilliant CEO and founder, Niall Crosby, has tragically passed away in an accident in recent days. His legacy and continued impact on the JavaScript UI/UX developer market is assured in the dynamic company he has built with the support of his team.
AG Grid emerged out of a need that Niall himself experienced and understood well. His novel solution to efficiently display large sets of data in browser-based applications led to rapid adoption by other developers. Sensing that he may have found product-market fit he took the courageous step to leave a well-paid job and invested his time and energy to relentlessly improve and enhance his successful first release.
Niall quickly realised that to build big you need a team of talented people around you. His vision, drive and humanity were instrumental in attracting and retaining individuals; from 1 at the start, to 55 now.
Having achieved every single goal he had set out to achieve, he started working on making the company less dependent on his time and energy every day. Over the last 2 years, he worked on developing his management team’s ability to run unaided. This made it possible for him to move back to Ireland to spend more time with his young family and to pursue his dreams outside of business life. As with everything else, he made a success of that too and his strong management team is now in place.
In our time of grief, we also want to send a message of reassurance and hope. We are committed to continuing to grow the extraordinary company Niall founded. We are committed to continue to improve the products he envisioned, and even introduce new ones in the future.
Rest in peace wonderful Niall. We’ll continue to make you proud.
