AG Grid Joins the Open Source Pledge

Open source has always been a foundational part of AG Grid. Our late founder, Niall Crosby, believed strongly in supporting the tools and communities behind the JavaScript ecosystem and this commitment continues to guide us today.

We’re proud to formalise that commitment by joining the Open Source Pledge, a collective of companies that each sponsor open-source projects at a rate of at least $2,000 per developer annually. For us, this isn’t a new direction - it’s a recognition of what we’ve always done.

Our Contributions

In the last 12 months (reporting for 2024), we contributed $30,000 to open-source projects - with 14 full-time developers, this equates to just over $2,000 per developer at AG Grid. With the addition of new sponsorships in 2025, we're aiming to triple this total contribution to $90,000 / year.

We primarily support projects we use directly, or have relied on in the past. Some of our major contributions include:

Webpack – $2,500/month

A core part of our build infrastructure, we've supported Webpack since March 2017 - that's over 8 years - for a total of $227,500, their second largest contributor to date.

ESLint - $5,000/month

A new sponsorship for us, we have started donating $5,000/month to ESLint, a tool we use throughout our codebase. This is the largest monthly donation received by ESLint and we hope this helps the maintainers continue to support and improve one of the most widely used tools in the ecosystem.

Other Contributions

Outside of open source, AG Grid are also proud sponsors and supporters of communities and tools that benefit the wider JavaScript ecosystem, including:

Plunkr – $2,500/month

Used extensively in our documentation, Plunkr provides a way for us to run our documentation examples locally, meaning we can easily test all of our examples without any additional build steps. We’ve supported them for several years and plan to continue this support into the future, to help developers prototype, experiment, share and debug their ideas.

TechStackNation (Formerly Angular Nation) – $3,000/month

A dedicated Angular community led by Bonnie Brennan. We’ve supported both Bonnie and TechStackNation for a number of years, to help foster education, collaboration, and community growth in the Angular, and now wider JavaScript development ecosystem.

Looking Ahead

We’re planning to expand our sponsorships in 2025 to support more of the tools that help make AG Grid and AG Charts the best JavaScript Data Grid and Charting Libraries In The World.
